Alice was born on October 21, 1943, in Mountain View, Missouri the daughter of William Dewey and Maggie Mae (Kesler) Bibee. She graduated from Manual High School in Peoria, Illinois. Alice married the love of her life Gerald Tarwater on April 7, 1963. Together they welcomed three sons. After briefly living in Long Beach, California, Alice and Jerry settled in Raytown, MO. In addition to her role as wife and mom, Alice worked in various accounting roles at the IRS Kansas City, USA-800 in Raytown, PTI in Raytown and Time Warner Cable before retiring. She served on the Gregory Heights HOA and was a volunteer at Rice-Tremonti historical home in Raytown.
Alice's greatest joy was her family and loved family get togethers and reunions. She spent many hours attending PTA meetings, sporting events and band competitions. She was an avid and excellent bowler and participated in several leagues throughout the years with family and coworkers. She and Jerry loved to camp and fish together with the boys.
Alice's smile could light up a room and she never met a stranger. Throughout her life, she tackled many difficult situations including beating cancer with grit, faith, determination and grace. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Hank Bibee, George Bibee, Bob Bibee, and Larry Bibee, a sister Marianne Hodges and granddaughter Natalie Tarwater.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Tarwater, sons Rick (Tina) Tarwater of Drexel, Kevin (Theresa) Tarwater of Lee's Summit, Brian (Susan) Tarwater of Higginsville, grandchildren Brady (Cayla) Tarwater of Pleasant Hill, Hannah Tarwater of Lee's Summit and great grandchildren Alexandria and Isaac Tarwater of Pleasant Hill. She is also survived by brothers Tom Taylor, Ray Greenwood, John Sprague, Ed Brooks, and David Grissom and sisters Opal Greenwood and Bridget Atchely along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11:00 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Alice would want everyone to feel comfortable so casual dress is welcome. A catered reception will follow the service. Private burial at Mount Moriah Cemetery South.
