Sue was the second youngest of nine children and the last surviving. When she was very young, the family moved to Fairfax, MO where her father was a farmer and where Sue went to school. We were poor but didn’t know it, so life was good and we were happy. Sue had earned a scholarship to attend Central Business College in Kansas City, so upon graduation from Fairfax High School she moved to Kansas City and worked as a Stenographer until she married Robert D. Myers in April of 1950 and moved to Newton Iowa to take care of Bob’s father who was dying of cancer. While in Iowa they were blessed with a son James Robert. On Friday, July 13, 1951, Bob and Sue packed up all their belongings in her brother-in-laws truck and moved back to Kansas City arriving south of the river just as the flood of 1951 closed all the bridges. Their first apartment was at 78th & Wornall and of course didn’t have air conditioning, but did have free parking! They were blessed with a daughter, Janice Marie in 1952 and then rented a house at 78th & Summit. In 1957 they were blessed with another son Joseph Paul and when he was 1 month old they bought their first house at 79th & Main which was their first real residence. In 1962 they moved to 89th Terrace where Sue was still living. In that home they had many wonderful years of family gatherings and a pretty good life.” Sue was blessed with many wonderful neighbors, friends and doctors over the years and wanted to thank everyone for all they did for her. She felt truly blessed with all those who crossed her path. She is survived by her son Jim Myers and wife Karen of Louisburg KS, her daughter Jan Meyers of the home, son Joe Myers and wife Marcia of Navarre, FL, four grandsons Rich Meyers and wife Michel of Olathe KS, Chris Myers of Louisburg KS, Rob Myers of Mary Esther FL, Jesse Myers and wife Kalena of Olathe KS, two great-grandsons Caleb and Rannan Myers, a great-granddaughter on the way, and her dear, dear friend of 40 years Liz Sheldon. Arrangements under the direction of Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, Kansas City, MO.
