Born in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines, Amador received his Bachelor of Science in 1954 in Agriculture Engineering from University of Philippines, Los Banos (UPLB) and was a member of Upsilon Fraternity. He and Neddie came to the United States to attend North Carolina State University where he earned his Masters Degree in 1956 and was a Fulbright Scholar and received his Ph.D in Statistics Experimental Design in 1963.
His career began as a professor of Mathematics and Statistics at UPLB. He and his family moved to the United States in 1970 where he took a position as Director of Quality Control with Chiquita Brands in Boston, New York City, Cincinnati and Honduras and ended his career with Geest UK Banana Co. in Miami. He was also the Past President of the Senior Council of the Filipino Association of Greater Kansas City after he moved to Overland Park, KS in 2008. He was a mentor to many and enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of his colleagues.
While his interests were many, including playing basketball in high school and college, it was mainly on the tennis courts where he spent most of his free time playing with his family and friends and introduced the sport to his children and grandchildren. He played well into his 60’s still finding a way to beat almost everyone he played. Most important to Amador was his family – a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle he took so much pride in all of his children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces with whom his lessons, wisdom and love will carry us forward. He was a loving and caring man whose huge heart will be dearly missed. He was a gift to us all as he brought his smiles, laughter, joy, unconditional love, pride, respect and dignity each day and to each person’s life he touched. He shared with each of us his Road to Life by being our model in how to Be a Good Person, See the Good in each other, how to Do the Right act and how to Be Your Best.
He will be Forever in Our Hearts and Will Always be Loved.
A private service is planned in both Kansas City and Fairfield, CT.
