Happy B-day Andrea. Thinking about you often

June 20, 2014

Andrea was a remarkable human being inside and out. It makes me sad to hear of her passing. My heartfelt wishes to all of her loved ones (husband, family, and friends). I hope you all are comforted by wonderful memories. Her light will forever shine on earth and will forever shine from heaven above. Andrea was brilliant and made my life better for knowing her. Such a hole in the world and such a loss.

Andrea was so special. She immediately lit up a room. There was just something incredibly special about her spirit, smile, compassion, and just the way that she led her life. To say that she was extraordinary was putting it mildly. A precious person on this earth and now a precious angel in heaven. She definitely earned her wings! It is of great sadness to me that she is no longer with us. My heart goes out to all of her loved ones.

Today I heard the sad news of Andrea's passing - she was my dentist - and she was wonderful - she pulled me into her annual tradition of surprising the 'girls' in the office with a FUN Xmas celebration - she personally called me and asked to "Play along..." - I was more than willing to have fun w/ Andrea's plotting...she filled the appt book w/ all of our names so the "girls" thought it would be a full day---however - her plan was to give them a day of pleasure - mani/pedi's, etc --how many bosses think of their staff enough to plan such an event (limo included!)- she had such joy talking to me about what she planned - she had such joy in everything she did - she had such joy in her job - she had such joy with her husband and her family- and sharing wonderful stories about all of them - this woman was JOY--- she will be so missed and I pray she is resting in peace - starting some fabulous plan in Heaven to do something FUN for everyone up there - that would be Andrea's way...may God hold her tightly- and keep her memory alive with all of us who knew and loved her -- Andrea you were one in a million!

Words cannot express how I feel at the loss of one of the world's truly great people. While I was just a patient of hers, she touched my heart during the office visits that actually became a pleasure for me (rare for any doctor, and certainly for a dentist!)... Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine.
Et lux perpetua luceat eis. Domine, Jesu Christe, Rex gloriae,
libera animas omnium fidelium defunctorum
de poenis inferni
et de profundo lacu.
Libera eas de ore leonis
ne absorbeat eas tartarus,
ne cadant in obscurum;
Sed signifer sanctus Michael
repraesentet eas in lucem sanctam,
Quam olim Abrahae promisisti
et semini eius.
Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine,
cum sanctis tuis in aeternum,
quia pius es.
Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis,
quia pius es.

I only just learned of Andrea's passing. I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child, and my heart goes out to you. My children went to school with Amy and Andrea (Taryl and Kyle) so I saw a lot of her as she grew up and it was all good. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.

Sadly, I just learned of Andrea's transition. My daughter and I were referred to her by a friend who knew about my fear of dentistry. She took us both under her wings and with the most beautiful compassion and care I overcame my fear. We will miss her beautiful smile and her gentle and kind presence.
She seemed so wise beyond her years and possessed such a wise, old soul. I have no doubt that she is with all of us here in spirit and our memories of her will continue to inspire all of us to be the best we can be. May her memory be a blessing to her family and friends.

I had the honor of becoming friends with Andrea during our years together at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Andrea was always so hard-working and dedicated, no matter what the task. As busy as she was, you could always count on her. She was kind to everyone and a wonderful friend. I am so saddened to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathy to her family
