Andrew Thomas DeSantis, 41 years old of Overland Park, Kansas passed away 14, April 2019, at home. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Church of Nativity; burial in Lenexa Resurrection Cemetery. Andrew DeSantis was born November 18, 1977 in White Plains, New York. Our beloved Andrew was the second oldest of 5 children. To Andrew, family was very important and he was the protector of all his siblings. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephew; he was the ultimate “fun” uncle. He was an avid New York sports fan, namely, the Yankees and the Giants. Andrew was born in White Plains, NY, but spent his early years in Cincinnati, Ohio. In Cincinnati he participated in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He also learned to play the saxophone, soccer, and baseball. He moved to Leawood, Kansas for his sophomore year in high school. In Leawood, Kansas he attended and graduated from Blue Valley North High School. During his time at Blue Valley North High School he played football and was an integral part of the team. He was valued by teammates and coaches. They nicknamed him “Diesel”. He also enjoyed running, attending sporting events, and watching movies at the movie theater. Andrew went on to attend Kansas State where he earned an undergraduate degree in criminology and later a masters degree in criminology. He attended UMKC where he completed his JD, law degree. He went on to be employed at Transport Funding where he was a Legal Specialist. He was highly valued, “a Jack of All Trades”, at his place of employment by his supervisor and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Andrea and Julia Taormina, paternal grandfather Francesco, and paternal aunt Mary.
He is survived by paternal grandmother Rose, parents Frank Jr. and Margaret. Sisters Catherine (Shane Musil) and Regina McDonald (Devon), brothers Anthony and Michael (Nadia), nieces and nephew Mia, Josie, and Jameson McDonald and maternal Uncle Al (Alice).
