Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th St., Leawood, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Andrew will be laid to rest on Tuesday, February 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 8300 Quivira Rd., Lenexa, Kansas.
Andrew was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 13, 1975, the only child of Mark and Rosalie Poss. When he was in grade school, Andrew and his family moved to Leawood, Kansas. He attended and graduated from Blue Valley High School. He obtained an associate degree from Johnson County Community College.
Andrew was a loving and affectionate son. He frequently would ask his mother for a hug, a real hug, heart to heart. A day did not pass without a request to pray with him.
Andrew was a history buff and geography enthusiast.
He enjoyed dogs and especially missed Little Man when he died in September of last year. He had a prescription for a companion dog, and in late January of 2025, he bought a long haired, blue black dachshund named Blue Bear. Andrew only had him for less than two weeks, but they had already bonded. Andrew planned to travel with him. He enjoyed traveling and had been to many states and countries.
Andrew is predeceased by his father, Mark, who died in 1991. He is survived by his mother, Rosalie, in Leawood; his Uncle Steve and Uncle Dan in Wisconsin; his cousins in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Alaska, and his many cousins in Kansas and Missouri.
Andrew was a special blessing for this father and mother. He will be dearly missed. Who will ask for a real hug?
