On Saturday, November 7, 2015, Anita V. Koontz, 61 passed away from pulmonary hypertension in her home surrounded by family. Anita was born April 3, 1954 in Kansas City, KS to Lorenzo and Naomi Valenciano. She was the youngest of five children. On November 23, 1972, Anita was united in marriage to John (Jack) Koontz. Anita worked for the Social Security Administration for 24 years. She enjoyed keeping up with the KC Royals, KC Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother and father-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jack, and their two sons, Nick and Lucas; granddaughter, Amber DeLeon and her husband Chris; brother, Carlos Valenciano and his wife Carol; sisters, Theresa Valenciano and Dolores Sandy and her husband Jim, and Rita Valenciano; sister-in-law, Nancy; two brothers-in-law, Terry and Wayne; and numerous aunt s, nephews and nieces.
A memorial gathering will be from 6-7 pm Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO, where the service will begin at 7:00 pm and the Rosary will follow the service.
