

Anna R. Johnson, age 63, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Providence Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. followed by Homegoing services at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery South. Anna R. Johnson was born March 4, 1948, in Kansas City, Kansas, daughter of Afreda Mae and James Henry Brooks, Sr. She graduated from Central High School in 1966. She received an Associate Degree from Kansas City, Kansas Community College. She later retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after over 35 years of service with the Federal Government. Anna was also a member of Star of Bethlehem #59, Order of the Eastern Star, Kansas jurisdiction for approximately 15 years. She was also a member of Koran Court #37, Daughter of Isis for seven years. Anna was a caring wife, loving mother and grandmother who had a sharp personality; and loved to share and pass on her wisdom and knowledge with anyone who was willing to listen and learn. You would often times find Anna spending time with or talking about her granddaughter, Maya, her Puddin-Puddin! Anna was preceded in death by her parents James and Afreda Brooks and two sisters Doretha Acklin and Janice Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Leon Johnson; daughter Angela Davis-Williams (Kirk); granddaughter Maya Williams, "Grandma's Girl"; sisters Bettye Brooks and Marie Tolliver; brother James Henry Brooks Jr. (Charlotte); brother-in-law Ronnie Davis; and special cousin Gwen Cobbins (Clarence). She also leaves her nieces Linda Reese, Dee Armstrong (Don), Rhonda Davis, Lisa Acklin, Robyn Johnson (Eric), Rocelyn Davis, Bridgot Landa, Tonya Brooks (Miguel); nephews Ryan Brooks (Toya), Troy Acklin, Robert L. Brooks (Rosalyne), James H. Brooks III, Justin Brooks (Keisha), and Jordan Brooks; and a host of extended family and friends. Condolences may be made at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
