

Anne Louise Blaschke Warzyn died Saturday at a Liberty nursing home after a brief stay. She was out shopping April 1, then admitted to hospital for an expected minor event reaching age 98 April 7, satisfied to have reached that goal, then was moved to the nursing home where she took her final rest.
Born at Janesville, WI she started playing piano at age 4, tunes while her Kindergarten classmates skipped around the room. In Milwaukee high school she played French horn and harp, eventually earning a BME at Milwaukee State Teachers College now in the U.W. system. She was UWM alumna. She married Howard Warzyn of S.Milwaukee their rearing three children first in New York city, then a Chicago suburb where a son joined the family before the family's 1958 move to Kansas City where Anne was chairman of board of managers at Clay County Clothes Closet, president of Clay County Council of Garden Clubs, president of First Federated Republican Women of Clay County, treasurer of American Guild of Organists Greater Kansas City chapter, was chuckle chairman for each of AARP chapter 2970, Gladstone Seniors, and Shepherd's Center of the Northland and received the Church Women United Bishops' Award.
Honing her organ skills Anne studied 22 years under Dr. Pauline Riddle at William Jewel College becoming Polly's oldest student (by default when the older student died), earned her AGO Service Playing Certificate, was seven years staff organist for Kansas City Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, organist 28 years for St. Gabriel's parish, took pleasure in playing organs around the world including Westminster Cathedral in London; in Salzburg, Austria cathedral the organ on which W.A.Mozart played, a four century old organ in Winklern, Austria. In "retirement" Anne continued church service organ playing throughout the K.C. area as a substitute organist, logging her "gigs" in a notebook from 1976 until 2009.
Other active memberships included Airline History Museum, Northland Garden Club, Kansas City Musical Club, Joy Group and TWA Seniors.
Her husband Howard Warzyn and a daughter Terese Warzyn Bate died earlier. Survivors are daughter Gail Warzyn, Dublin, GA; sons Charles Warzyn, Dublin, GA, and Russell Warzyn, Decaturville, TN; grandson Ted Bate, Rhome, TX; granddaughter Melissa Bate Newby, Midlothian, VA; cousin Alfred Blaschke, Georgetown, TX; four great-grandchildren and caring friends of all generations.
Memorial services are 11:00 AM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at St Gabriel Catholic Church; Cremation. Friends may call from 6-8 PM Friday, May 16th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Family suggests donations to Shepherd's Center of the Northland, Conception Abbey or any animal welfare or nature conservation group.
