Anthony B. Sanchez

Anthony “Tony” B. Sanchez, 100 Years of Age, died peacefully at home, April 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Rose Owens and Alicia Sanchez, and their mother Rita Buso Sanchez.

Tony is survived by his daughter Ramona Sanchez and son Robert (Amy) Sanchez, a grandson, Brian (Carla) Gill, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandsons.

Tony was most proud of his military service in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He was a Tech Sergeant in the Amphibian Division 532nd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment. He served in the Pacific Theater on an LCM, transporting heavy machinery, supplies, and Australian Allies to the beaches of the Pacific Islands of New Guinea and Northern Solomon Islands in Operation Cartwheel. He was a lifelong member of Camdenton VFW Post 5923.

As a youngster, Tony traveled with family during harvesting season as a migrant worker to Iowa, Minnesota, and other states. He attended school where he could. Tony retired from the T.J. Fleming Co., Westinghouse Air Brake Division after 37 years as a machinist foreman refurbishing air brakes and engine batteries for the railroad.

Tony was a self-taught artist and loved any type of artwork. He had a showing of his work at the Grassroots Art Center in Lucas, Ks in 2018.

Visitation is from 1:00 – 3:00 PM Thursday, April 15th, with a Catholic Prayer Service at 3:00 PM, immediately followed by military honors at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Private inurnment in Terrace Park Cemetery. Donations are suggested to Kansas City Hospice, 5100 Meadow Lake Pkwy, Ste 200 KC, MO 64114.

Thank you Anthony for serving our country with LOVE; PRIDE AND HONOR. Because of your service to our country we can all live our lives in freedom.
EACH AND EVERYONE OF OUR VETERANS ARE OUR COUNTRY'S SPECIAL HEROES; AND THEY WILL ALL BE REMBERED IN MY HEART FOREVER. BECAUSES OF THEIR SACRIFICES THEY HAVE ALL MADE FOR US SO WE ARE ABLE TO HAVE THE FREEDOM THAT WE HAVE TODAY.
