Ardyce Fern Highley proudly served her community as a police officer with the Independence Police Department for 30 years. She broke barriers, mentored countless young officers, and kept her community safe with unwavering dedication.
While she was a protector by profession, her greatest joy was her family, she was a devoted wife, mother and GiGi to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She balanced the demands of a challenging career with a fierce, unconditional love for her family.
She is survived by her sister Janice Hansen and two sons, Bob Yeager (Susan) and Tim Highley. Though her earthly journey has ended, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now their quiet guardian angel, watching over her beloved sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren from above.
Grandchildren: Leigh Erin Yeager, Lauren Elizabeth Yeager, Alexis Ann Hardin (Thomas), John Edward Stewart, Brian Smith Stewart, Laura Ellen Stewart, Travis Christopher Highley, Olivia Lynn Highley, Emma Jean Highley. Great-grandchildren: Lilliana Kay Lewis, Lincoln Edward Stewart, Lainey Hardin.
A visitation will be held on September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at McGilley and Sheil Funeral Home located at 11924 E 47th Street, Kansas City MO 64133. The service, including law enforcement honors, will take place immediately following the visitation.
