Art Thomas Perdikis, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Leawood, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 27, 1936, in the village of Livadi, Greece, Art came into the world during a time that would shape his character — instilling in him a quiet resilience, an enduring sense of purpose, and a deep appreciation for the bonds of family that would define his life.
Raised in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece, Art came of age in a place rich with history, culture, and the warmth of the Mediterranean spirit. It was there that his intellectual curiosity and discipline were first nurtured, laying the foundation for what would become a distinguished professional career. Before embarking on his career in corporate America, Art answered the call of duty and proudly served this country in the United States Army. Art went on to serve various Director roles in Information Technology, completing his career as Director of Information Management and Operations Analysis at Sprint — a role that spoke to both his sharp analytical mind and his capacity for leadership. Throughout his career, he was recognized not only for his expertise and meticulous command of complex systems, but for the integrity and calm authority with which he guided those around him.
He was a deeply logical and methodical thinker, someone who approached every challenge with determination. He didn’t back down easily — he met obstacles head on and was a fighter through and through.
Art was a lifelong learner with a deep and abiding love for history and geography. Philosophical and poetic writings stirred his reflective nature, with some of his writings published in a Hellenic newspaper, a quiet testament to his love for his homeland. While Art had a love for many sports, he particularly loved the games of soccer and American Football. From his childhood in Thessaloniki, soccer was never merely a pastime— it was a passion he carried with him throughout his life.
Yet for all the accomplishments of his professional life, it was the family he built and cherished that stood as Art's greatest pride and his most enduring legacy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha, whose devotion was the quiet anchor of their shared life together. He is also survived by his cherished daughters, Maria and Christina, who brought him immeasurable joy, and by his sons-in-law, Jamie and Chris, whom he welcomed into the family with an open and generous heart. In Greece, he leaves behind many relatives including his beloved nieces, Aspasia, Elpida and his dear nephew, Mikis, who carry forward the warmth of his Greek roots and the memory of a man who never forgot where he came from. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Theresa. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marika and Thomas, who gave him life and instilled in him the values he carried always; his brother, John; and his sisters, Anna and Andonia — each of them a cherished part of the world he came from and the man he became. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, George and Mary.
To know Art was to understand that family was not simply important to him — it was everything.
Art Thomas Perdikis loved deeply and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. From his beautiful homeland of Greece to the life he created in America, Art leaves behind a family that is immeasurably richer for having had him at its center.
He will be forever in our hearts.
