Only child of Arthur Laudel, Sr. and Flora Jane Hunter, he moved as an infant to Kansas City where his father learned to build houses, eventually heading up a successful home-building business.
Arthur graduated from Paseo High School at age 16 and went to KU in Lawrence, Kansas to study engineering. During his senior year, Art had to choose between civil and electrical engineering, as he had enough credits to graduate in either field. Young Arthur chose electrical engineering and graduated with honors.
Recruited by General Electric, Art went to work in Schenectady, New York as WW II raged the world over. Eventually he lost his deferred status and joined the Navy. The war ended while Art was stationed in Hawaii, where he committed his life to Christ.
Returning to Kansas City, Art soon met Norene Anderson while attending Wornall Road Baptist Church. Art and Norene married in 1951 and were wed for 45 years. Together they raised a son, Arthur Laudel III, and two daughters, Katherine Jane and Sharon Ann.
Art applied his knowledge of the sciences and his proficiency in math to support his family. He retired from Bendix after many years doing top secret work for our government. Though retired, he still remained active in his church, as he began caring for his ailing wife who passed away in 1996.
In 2002, he married a widow, Gladys Morales, and they had 16 joyful years of marriage as they attended Abundant Life Church in Overland Park, Kansas.
While not achieving his desire to live to be 100, Art accomplished much in his long life, most importantly serving God and others with true devotion.
He leaves behind his children Arthur Laudel, III, Kathy (Dennis) Vinge, Sharon (Harry) Ritter, and step-daughter Paula Morales, a step-son Joel Morales, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He also leaves a church family who surrounded him with love and support and whom he loved in return.
