Arthur Owen Richardson, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Monday April 25, 2022, at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas from living his life to the fullest. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 5-7pm at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64145. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 3pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Richardson was born December 21, 1940 in Walton, New York. He had an amazing career in sales that took off with Del Met Corporation. Art was excellent at relationship building and made his way to Kansas City, MO to work with Peterson Manufacturing (Grandview). Here he earned the title of VP of sales and President of TSEI (an industry association) working with clients across the globe! He travelled throughout the United States, Germany, Taiwan, and China. He loved his career and he enjoyed sharing his passion with others, mentoring them as he was mentored. After four decades of service, he retired and started to play as hard as he had worked.
He then focused his energy on himself and his family, moving his life to Grand Lake, Oklahoma. Here he settled into retirement, enjoying the lake life, and travelling in his RV across the country. Art knew no stranger. If you were in earshot, you became welcome. If you were lucky enough to become his friend, you became family. If you spent time together often, you may now drink rum and diet coke. As a parent, Art was loving and generous, providing for his children and grandchildren. Especially his beloved dog Tiger Lilly, who brought him so much joy.
Art Richardson was a Christian, and donated his spare time and philanthropic efforts to every community he was a part of. I’ll share a few: Home of Hope, Vinita OK, Wounded Warriors Fund, Craig County Neighbors Helping Neighbors, United Way, Ronald McDonald House, Rose Brooks, St. Jude’s, and many more.
After travelling so often to Aransas Pass, Texas, in the winter, Arthur Richardson decided to spend the rest of his retirement where he was surrounded by neighbors that were always looking out for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Richardson and Kathleen Benedict Richardson and six of his siblings. He leaves behind two siblings, Arney Richardson and Cassie Richardson, his three children, Monte B. Richardson, Marc A. Richardson and Karen R. Richardson, his grandchildren, Amber Richardson, Dr. Ashley Richardson-Kriz, Alphonso Arthur Caldwell, Kharyn R. Porchia, three great granddaughters, Aubrey, Peyton and Zyah. Special thanks to Sherry Meyers, Delontay Jackson and Zane Myers, who have been such a huge help over the last several years.
