Arthur George Slocum

Arthur George Slocum died on October 30, 2018 at Sunrise Senior Living in Leawood, KS at the end of 84 fulfilling years. He was surrounded by his beloved family as he passed away. Art was born in St. Louis, MO to Arthur and Mary Slocum on November 17, 1933. He grew up with his younger sister (and only sibling), Pat Slocum Lillis, exploring his neighborhood and enjoying the city. Art loved St. Louis and got his full education in the city. He attended All Saints Catholic Grade School and in 1951 he graduated from Mercy High School. In 1955 he graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in business.

Art is survived by his loving sister Pat Slocum (married to Tom) Lillis; his aunt Lavelle "Del" Slocum; eight nieces and nephews – Kim Lillis (Jon) Nee, Tom (Patti) Lillis, Steven (Jenny) Lillis, Mark (Kim) Lillis, Joseph (Christy) Lillis, Timothy (Pat) Lillis, David (Paula) Lillis, and Paul (Inger) Lillis – along with many great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mary Slocum, his three maternal aunts and uncles, all his other paternal aunts and uncles, and his lifelong friend, Fr. John Geoghegan. Art's "other family," Fr. Geoghegan's six nephews, also survive him – Vincent (Jane) O'Connell, Stephen (Sharon) O'Connell, Phil (Patti) O'Connell, Thomas (Janet) O'Connell, John (Mary Jo) O'Connell, and Daniel (Marge) O'Connell.

Funeral services for Arthur Slocum will be held at 10:00am on January 11, 2019 at Immacolata Catholic Church, 8900 Clayton Road, St. Louis, MO. The burial service will follow immediately at Resurrection Cemetery. After the service, please join Art's family for a reception honoring his life at 12:00 noon at the Missouri Athletic Club, 1777 Des Peres Road, St. Louis, MO.
