Avis Mae Odenbaugh passed on March 27, 2026, at the age of 92. She was born May 21, 1933 in Sioux City, Iowa to Theodore Linka and Cornelia Barnes. Avis married Bert Odenbaugh in 1970. She was a Clinical Medical Technologist for 25 years, including 5 years with the Sickle Cell Project and a forensic document examiner.
Avis was also a dog breeder and trainer and was among the first two individuals in the Kansas City area certified by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. She also enjoyed photography and film processing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert H. Odenbaugh; her father, Theodore Linka; her mother, Cornelia Barnes; her brother, James Linka; and her stepson, Bruce Odenbaugh. She is survived by her sister, Norma Laity of Sun City, Arizona; her stepdaughter, Sandy Pennington and her husband Jim Lopez of Olathe, Kansas; her granddaughter, Ashley (Dylan) Clark of Overland Park, Kansas and great granddaughter, Blaire Clark.
Avis was a proud member and clerk of session of Blue Ridge Presbyterian Church and wished any memorial contributions be made to her church.
