With profound sadness, but hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Barbara Ann Brashear, who was born on June 22, 1947, and entered the presence of her Lord on July 2, 2026 at the age of 79. She passed peacefully surrounded by her two loving daughters.
Barbara was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, to Emerald Monroe Brown and Daisy Dean Brown. She graduated from Fort Osage High School before beginning her career at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, where she met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Brashear. Together they shared 47 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, love, family, and hospitality.
Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother whose love was constant, selfless, and unconditional. She welcomed everyone with open arms, never met a stranger, and never let anyone leave her home hungry. Whether gathering at the lake, enjoying time by the pool, shopping for a bargain, playing games, or trying her luck at the casino, Barbara found joy in sharing life's moments with those she loved.
Throughout her life, Barbara faced challenges with extraordinary strength and grace. She courageously battled breast cancer and later Alzheimer's disease. Even as Alzheimer's gradually took much from her, it never diminished her loving spirit, her deep faith, or the profound impact she had on those around her.
A faithful member of Evangelistic Center Church for many years, Barbara lived her faith through kindness, generosity, compassion, and service. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, generous heart, unwavering faith, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Barbara is survived by her loving daughters, Nicole Robinson (John) and Jennifer Doctor; her cherished grandchildren, Jason Robinson (Shelly) and great-grandson Ellis, Tyler Robinson, Aiden Doctor (Sylvia), and Samuel Doctor; extended family; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Brashear, and her parents, Emerald and Daisy Brown.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life, knowing Barbara is now healed, reunited with Bob, and resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on July 9, 2026, at Newcomer's Floral Hills. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund.
