the Lord on August 7, 2019 after battling cancer and a stroke.
Bobbie was born on November 3, 1932 to Fred and Theresa Henn in Kansas City,
Missouri. She had two older siblings, sisters Marie and Betty. In 1949 she graduated
from Loretto Academy. Bobbie married Tony Blaschke in 1952. They moved to Sedalia,
MO in 1963 where they raised their three children, John, Debby and Sandy.
Bobbie was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was very proud of her family and
always made holidays and family get-togethers special. After her kids started school,
she worked at Interstate Studio as a proofreader. Outside of work she was a member of
the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, was involved with several community services and
charities, and loved gardening, sewing, bowling, fishing and dancing. But most of all
Bobbie loved people! Friendly to everyone she met, her warm, welcoming personality
made even strangers quickly feel like old friends. She always had a smile, a hug and
joyful words to share as well as a feisty sense of humor.
Upon moving back to Kansas City in 1982, Bobbie began work for the Kansas City
Chamber of Commerce as an event coordinator. There, while serving as fellow judges
in a barbecue contest, she met her beloved husband, Bill Dahlquist. Bobbie and Bill
were married in 1992. They enjoyed life together at their home in Brookside and many
years of traveling. In 2007 they moved to John Knox Village and quickly became
involved in various activities, including theatrical productions. Bobbie volunteered
several days a week at the thrift shop where she enjoyed socializing with customers and
co-workers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family playing cards, golfing or
just sharing a meal and laughter together. In later years one of her most treasured
times was daily morning coffee with Bill, reading “Jesus Calling” and deepening their
faith together.
Bobbie is survived by her husband Bill, sisters Marie Kissinger and Betty Fasl, son John
Blaschke, daughters Debby (Terry) DeMattei, Sandy (Dave) Thompson, stepsons Brian,
Bruce, Dean (Rebecca), Gary (Terri), and Craig (Terri) Dahlquist, 7 grandchildren, 13
step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
