Born on September 14, 1953 in Carrollton, Missouri to Dale and Ivah McNeall, Barbara spent her childhood taking dance classes which she truly loved. She graduated from Ruskin High School in 1971 and was married. After her divorce, Barbara began working at Black & Veatch Engineering as an Executive Assistant. She held this post for over 30 years, retiring in 2017. During her many years of service, Barbara received numerous accolades for her commitment to excellence and her job performance. She enjoyed her work there and established lifelong friendships with many of her co-workers.
Barbara was a strong supporter of local rugby and volunteered her time serving as secretary for the Kansas City Rugby Football Club for several years. You could find her many weekends attending local matches and supporting the players. She was able to travel with the team to Scotland, Wales and Ireland which allowed her to indulge in another of her interests, travel.
Barbara is survived by her younger sister, Rose Kester of Kansas City, Missouri, five nieces and nephews and one great-niece. She is also survived by her longtime friend, confidant and companion Michael Martin of Kansas City, Missouri, plus numerous friends and acquaintances.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Barbara’s name directly to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 26th from 6:30 to 8pm at Newcomer’s Floral Hills Funeral Home, Raytown, Missouri.
