

Barbara LaVon Ward LaMar, 92, of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully after an illness on November 19, 2012. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 1, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri, with Rev. Bo Crowe officiating. Memorial service will be Sunday, December 2, at the Central Christian Church in Denver, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Christian Church, 3690 Cherry Creek South Drive, Denver, Colorado 80209. Mrs. LaMar was born August 15, 1920 in Leavenworth County, Kansas, daughter of Ola P. and Lola E. Ward. On October 3, 1953 she married Henry N. LaMar, who preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Denver, Colorado where she worked for Prudential Insurance and was active in her church, Central Christian. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also preceded in death by her brother Parker B. Ward, brother-in-law Joseph R. Melvin, stepdaughters Martha Durham, Betty Glasscock and Henrietta Kesler, and stepgranddaughter Betty Lee Rodgers. She is survived and fondly remembered by her sister Mildred Maxine Ward Melvin; sister-in-law Mary Ward; nieces Janice Lee Melvin Powers and Diane Ward Donner; nephew James Michael Melvin; stepgrandsons Russell Durham, Stephen Glasscock and Leland Kesler; a special cousin Jeanne Robb; and many stepgreat-grandchildren, stepgreat-great-grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
