

Barbara E. Norris, 90, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away December 14, 2011 at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 424 E. 92nd Street, New York, New York 10128. Mrs. Norris was born October 4, 1921 in Wichita, Kansas, daughter of Henry Clay and Jessie Parker (Bennett) Hill. She graduated from Northeast High School. She was in the first gifted and talented program. She lived on a hobby farm for 19 years before returning to Kansas City, loved wildlife, animals, birds especially humming birds, and cats. She also had a pet fox. Mrs. Norris enjoyed tole painting and was an avid reader with a great vocabulary. She was a member of PTA when her children were in school. She married Bill Norris, February 1943; he preceded her in death June 5, 1982. Mrs. Norris is survived by her sons Steve and wife Sharryl Norris, Lynn Creek, Missouri and Mark and wife Mary Ann Norris, Independence, Missouri; brothers Jess Hill, Gladstone, Missouri and Reginald Hill, Oak Grove, Missouri; grandchildren Chris and wife Kelly Norris and Duff Norris, all of Denver, Colorado, Todd and wife Nita Norris, Prairie Village, Kansas, Jess and wife Kim Norris, Katie and husband Duane Bierman, Kearney, Nebraska and Matt Norris, Buckner, Missouri; and great-grandchildren Julie Norris, Gavin Norris, Ben Norris and Kate Norris.
