Barbara was born on October 30, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Richard and Merle Stevenson. After high school she joined the workforce and through the years did a bit of everything. She was a school bus driver, worked in the plastics factory, worked at Parkway Drive Switches, and was a secretary at a doctor's office. She found her place at Blue Cross Blue Shield and stayed there until her retirement.
She loved to read, cook, and spend time in the garden. She often spent time exploring ancestry and building family trees. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, who knew her as "Spirit Granny", and would always host Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Merle, her husband George Klima, her sisters Martha and Glenda Stevenson, brother John Stevenson, and half-brother Wayne Mullins.
Survivors include her son Alan North, two grandchildren Brad North and Pamela Perez, one great-grandchild Rachelle Perez, and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Barbara will take place on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home (7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133). The funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM followed by a graveside service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens (Same Address).
