Barbara Shackelford Seidlitz

Barbara Shackelford Seidlitz, of Mission Hills, died at her home Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Born on October 4, 1923, Mrs. Seidlitz was the daughter of William Harrison Shackelford, Jr., and the former Louise Hutt. A lifelong Kansas Citian, she graduated from The Barstow School and attended Smith College.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Charles Newman Seidlitz, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Seidlitz, of Prairie Village and her step-son, Charles Newman Seidlitz, III, of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Christina Drummond McVeigh of Olympia, Washington; Elizabeth Richards Seidlitz and Ashley Akin Seidlitz, both of New York City; and Joe Kirke Gregg of Kansas City. Also surviving are her brothers, John Hutt Shackelford and William H. Shackelford, III, both of Mission Hills, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, at 3 pm, at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory be made to Grace and Holy Cathedral, 415 West 13th St., Kansas City, MO 64105.
