Barbara was born 10.10.24 in London, England, daughter of George & Rosina Montegue Neal.
After an idyllic childhood in London, the family survived the bombings of WWII, some of it in the underground. Life continued and on a chance meeting at a dinner with her parents, Barbara met the charismatic U.S. Army Major, Cedric Tallis, who swept her off her feet and off to America, where he started his career in major league baseball.
With daughter Gale, and son Gary, the family moved many times through the years, finally settling in Kansas City when Cedric was hired in 1969 by Ewing and Muriel Kauffman, as their first General Manager of the Kansas City Royals, where he developed the team and worked to create the new stadium.
Barbara was English to the core, beautiful (compared to Jackie O.), elegant, classy, funny and feisty, and after Cedric passed away in 1991, she utilized her fashion savvy at Saks 5th Avenue in the Designer Salon, becoming friends with many of the designers.
She led a full and exciting life; she loved travelling, walking on the beach, tennis, fashion, entertaining, decorating (many homes through the years) and socializing with her many friends.
She leaves behind her daughter Gale (Robert), son Gary (Susan) and her beloved cat Winston, who was with her until the end. We will miss her deeply.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers at Brighton Gardens and Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.
At Barbara’s request, there will be no service. There will be a family celebration of her life at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice Foundation.
