

She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Barbara was admired for her ability to make everyone feel valued, her incredible strength, and her unconditional love. She was always ready to offer advice and provide a steadfast shoulder to lean on.
Born on October 23, 1952, Barbara began her career in nursing after attending nursing school and working at Children’s Mercy Hospital. In 1973, she met Harold Walley Jr., and they were married soon after. Barbara often said her greatest accomplishment in life was being the mother to her daughters, Jenée and Marlena.
Barbara returned to school to become a licensed massage therapist and went on to successfully run her own business. She was also deeply influenced by her beloved grandmother, Margaret Conn, and followed in her footsteps by becoming an ordained minister. Barbara had the honor of officiating weddings and funerals, offering her warmth and compassion to those in need.
Barbara’s passions were many. She was a dedicated supporter of women’s groups and the LGBTQ+ community. She loved traveling in her RV, reading, and embracing spiritual living, which included learning Tarot. Barbara cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, Jay and Leneia, who brought her immense joy.
Barbara’s legacy of love, strength, and unwavering support will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband Harold Walley Jr., daughter Jenée Schroeder (Chad); daughter Marlena Walley, grandson Jay Schroeder, granddaughter Leneia Schroeder, sister Carol Williams, brothers Michael Williams and David Williams, and niece Rachel Langwell and nephew Chris Williams. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Leroy Williams and Jean Elizabeth Williams and her grandmother Margaret Conn.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on February 8, 2025, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, with visitation preceding the celebration from 12:00 pm.
