Barry buckles was one of my best friends. Since I moved back to Kansas City in 1988 I never could locate Barry. He wasn't on Facebook and I couldn't find him online. I wish I could have told him what a great friend he was to me. He was very helpful to me in my younger days. I regret that I could never find out how to reach him. The last time I saw him was in 1985 when I visited Kansas City from California. Thank you Barry!



I got to know Barry over the last couple of years at Minor Park Golf Course.  I enjoyed our occassional round together but I will miss his keen wit and insight.
Rest in peace Barry.

I worked with Barry for many years. I do remember after working at WM whenever he would bring any of the patients with him for group or walk across the ramp.  He would stop at my desk and say, "Hey everyone, this is Neota.  Say hello.  They would.  He had such patience and professionalism. I think that he is up at the gates, being introduced "hey, everyone, this is Barry."

Im sorry that Barry is gone. I dont have much of a memory of him except for when I was about 2 and we would all gather around at grandmas for christmas. I remember those being good times. Even though we are not close we are still family and my heart goes out to you aunt Shawn and cousin Lauren

I met Barry at Western Mo as a new student coming out of college.  Barry was a wonderful person.  Knowing Barry, he was honest, spoke his mind and had a wonderful sense of humor. As a therapist I learned alot from my books at school, Barry taught me to look beyond the books, learn empathy, learn to understand the patients we work with.  Having known Barry, I am a much better professional and much better person.  My prayers go out the all the family.  I know you are in heaven Barry, on a golf course, "hit'm straight".  Bob Cole

He eyes would light up when ever he was talking about his daughter.  I too remeber the collage and how he would make sure everyone in the office say the newest picturesthat he would add.

I knew Barry through WM and what a wonderful person he was. I remember his everlasting patience and understanding of those he helped along the way. May the good memories outweigh the bad and help his family get through this time of sorrow. My prayers are with them.

My prayers go out to Shawn and Lauren in their time of sorrow. Barry was a wonderful person and easy to talk to. I was a prn staff member on the kids unit at Western and can remember the pride he had whenever he spoke of his daughter Lauren. The last time I saw Barry was a few months ago at Sheila's and Audrey's retirement party and he came up and gave me a hug even though I had not seen him in a while. He of course filled me in on the lastest news about Lauren. He will be missed. May you find comfort in your wonderful memories of him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Shawn, Lauren and the rest of the Buckles family.  I worked with Barry for many years at WMMHC and remember him to be a very kind and caring man.  The thing I remember most about him however, is the love and adoration he had for his daughter.  Never did a day go by that Barry didn't speak of Lauren and swell with pride...not to mention the collage of pictures he kept of her in his office.  May memories of him and his undying love for his family comfort you in the days ahead.

Barry, you will be dearly missed at 75th Street Brewery.

I am really going to miss our lengthy and entertaining conversations.  You truly made me laugh and I will always cherish that.  You are a unique and wonderful man.  Thanks for sharing yourself with us.  We are all better for it.

May I offer my condolences during this time of grief.  Barry was a great guy and a true friend to the people who knew him.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
