Mom was born on August 3, 1921 in Argyle, Missouri to Emil and Lucille Richter. She rode the Rock Island Railroad each week from Argyle to attend Redemptorist High School in Kansas City. After graduation, she served our country by working for the State Department in Washington DC. While out for an evening with friends in Washington, she found herself in a taxi cab on the lap of a handsome flyboy from Youngstown, Ohio. That fateful evening led her to the love of her life and John and Bea were married on August 31, 1946 at Redemptorist Church. They made their home in Kansas City.
Together, Mom and Dad raised their family with a faith, love and dedication that each of us felt as we grew up. Their example of family devotion and love has been the guiding light and compass for our family our entire lives. Mom was the shining light of love and smiles in any room she entered. She never spoke a negative word to or about anyone. Her favorite things included reading, crosswords, camping trips and holding any baby she could get her hands on. Being with her family brought her the greatest joy. But it was her essence of love that brought us much more.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth parish for twenty years where she ran the school cafeteria for ten years. She treated each and every child that came through the line like they were one of her own. The homemade dishes she crafted each day were served with love. She never used a recipe and would simply use “a little of this and that”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John. She is survived by her children, Linda Messer, Tish Judy, Jimmy and Sharon Mincher, Jerry and Lindsay Mincher, Johnny and Cindy Mincher and Jeff and Molly Mincher; 17 adoring grandchildren, Mary Jennifer Naranjos (Jerry), Johnny Messer (Pili), Michael Judy (Mary Jane), Matthew Judy (Angie Zarrillo), Jessica Sheehan (Greg), Jimmy Mincher (Emily Webb), Elizabeth Zsuzsics (Justin), Sarah Mincher, Caileigh Mincher, Christopher Mincher, Courtney Kisor (Jason), Timmy Mincher, Katie Mincher, Jeffrey Mincher (Maria), Megan Jaworski (Jay), Alex Mincher (Meg) and Anna Mincher, 13 great grandchildren and sister Dorothy O’Brien (Leo).
Our Mom was a very special lady. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She knew no strangers and had the purest of hearts. We thank God for the gift of a Mom like her and for the years we were able to share. Even in the end when 93 years of life could not be turned back, Mom told everyone that she was “OK”. “Mercy, Mercy”. Sorry Mom, but you were far beyond “OK”, you were amazing.
