Beatriz Elvira Lopez

Beatriz Elvira Lopez, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri., passed away January 9, 2011, at her home in Kansas City.

Graveside service was held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 13, in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Friends were invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, at McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, Mo., where a Rosary was Prayed at 7 p.m.

She was born December 7, 1927, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Manuel and Mary Valdez.

Beatriz was a volunteer for Head Start, a Guadalupana, and cared for her mother in her last years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Manuel Valdez, and sisters, Lucy Musquiz and Alice Duran. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Daniel of the home; son, Joseph and wife Shelli of North Kansas City, Missouri; daughters, Virginia Harrison and husband Charles of Kansas City, Missouri and Anna Gerhardt and husband Guy of New Orleans, Louisiana; sister, Julia Salinas of Kansas City, Missouri, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
