

Ben F. Pagel, 93, of south Kansas City, passed away Dec. 5, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Overland Township, Morris County, KS near White City, KS; son of Charles & Joy Pagel. He enlisted in the US Army at Leavenworth KS in 1943 where he served in the South Pacific under General MacArthur. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart in WWII. After following the war he returned to White City, KS and married Violet Irene Blades where they lived in Alta Vista, KS. Ben and Violet moved to Kansas City where he began his career at the United States Post Office and retired as the general foreman of the 3rd floor.
He was a past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and Gate City #381. He was also a past master of Gate City Lodge #522. He was a member of the Temple Gate Lodge #299 and a member of the Ivanhoe Lodge #446. He was a member of the East Gate Travelers Club. He received his 50-year pin in the masonic fraternity in 2013. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
Ben was preceded in death by his first wife, mother of his children, Violet Irene Pagel, his mother and father, and 13 brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife Ruby Aline Pagel; a son, Arden (Lynn) Pagel; two daughters, Ardith (Robert) Howe and Arleen (Danny) True; a foster son Roy Robb; a foster daughter Laura Day; six grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.on Fri. Dec. 11, 2015 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer, and Freeman Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection Memorial Fund and the Shrine Burn Center for Children.
