Bernard William Flucke, Jr. 84, of Kansas City, MO passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 9, 2016. He will forever be remembered for his easy smile and engaging sense of humor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 14th, 10:00a.m., at St.Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, 64131, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on Sunday, November 13th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas More Parish or the Boy Scout Troop 30 Camp Fund, 9738 State Line Rd., Leawood, KS 66206.
Bernard was born in Kansas City, MO, on May 29, 1932, to Bernard, Sr. and Agnes Flucke. He graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1949 before entering the Army and serving in the 8th Calvary Regiment during the Korean War. He married Mary Anne Gripka on October 22, 1955, and they lived a wonderful life together for the next sixty-one years. He worked for many years in automotive repair, in business with his father, and then with his own company. He was active in the Boy Scouts for most of his life and served as Scout Master of Troop 30 for many years. He also greatly enjoyed sports, coaching youth baseball and softball, and playing softball well into his seventies. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and his daughter, Dianne. He will be greatly missed by his wife Mary, five children, Bernard Flucke, III (Vicky), Patti Wagner (Dean), Frank Flucke (Margaret), Teresa Baggerly (Lou) and Jim Flucke (Jeanne), thirteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
