On May 27, 2013, Betty Lorraine Ford, 83, went peacefully to be with the Lord. Betty was born January 21, 1930, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Codie (Maddox) and Charles Stearns Wilbur. Betty lived in Overland Park, Kansas, most of her life. She worked at Tension Envelope Company, in the billing department, during the 1950’s. Betty was happily married to Kenneth C. Ford, from April 9, 1960, until his death in October, 2004. She volunteered as a Patient Representative at Menorah Medical Center for over 40 years and was a member of the Shawnee Mission D.A.R.
Betty and Dr. Walter Harvey Jacobs M. D. M. A. C. G. were united in a Life Commitment Ceremony, and were very happy. Walter passed away in November of 2012, and according to his wishes, Betty will be placed by his side in Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Among her many friends were some very special and important people whose friendship she valued very highly: Eva Thomas, Howard and Rita Stark, Marvin and Sandy Romer, Joyce Townsend, and Nadine Lewis.
She is survived by her much loved family, Bruce and Caryn Ford, their daughter, Kim and Bob Richmann and their children, Andy and Jason; and their son, Brian and Amy Ford and their children, Devin, Dan, Jessica and Zechariah, all residents of St Louis.
The family thanks the nursing staff and doctors of Menorah Medical Center and those of Delmar Gardens Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care given to Betty.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 2:00pm, in the Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, located at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64131 (I-435 & Holmes). Condolences may be offered at www.mtmoriah-freeman.com.
