Betty Lou Marshall Hill was born at the family farmhouse in Laclede County, MO on October 19, 1931. She was delivered by her grandmother into the arms of her loving parents, Bessie Leona (Crabaugh) and Cris Onas Marshall. She left this world on August 19, 2025, and was delivered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her loving family who were waiting for her in heaven
She married Albert L. Hill, Jr. on January 12, 1951. They had three children, Nancy Lou, Mark Lee, and John Kent. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker for many years. She helped create a warm and welcoming home for all her family.
At times, she would take secretarial jobs or temp office work to pay a few bills. As her children got older, she took a full-time job in the sixties with John Deere & Co where she settled into a good position of responsibility locating and shipping farm equipment throughout the Midwest. After more than twenty years of faithful service she retired.
Shortly before retirement, Betty and Al bought a little cabin at Stockton Lake and spent many happy years fishing and relaxing in that little cabin in the woods. She was an amateur genealogist for decades and built an extensive family tree full of facts and stories even before the days of computer genealogy sites. Betty loved to sing and harmonize with family on those glorious old gospel songs. She was always in the church choir and participated in Sweet Adelines for several years. Even in her later years, she led a Hymn Sing and devotional at Addington Place, her assisted living home.
She was a member of the Fellowship Church at Greenwood MO. Betty loved the Lord, her husband and family. She studied the scriptures and prayed fervently.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Al Jr, her precious grandson, Michael Smith Hill; her parents, Bessie and Cris Marshall, her loving uncle/stepfather Leon Marshall, her brother Howard Marshall and sister Louise Corum.
She is survived by her sister, Glenda Carpenter, Des Moines IA; her daughter Nancy DiGiovanni (Dennis) of Leawood, KS; her sons Mark Hill (Brenda) of Greenwood, MO; John Kent Hill of Raymore, MO; granddaughter Melissa Burch-Hill (Jacob) of Lawrence, KS; grandsons Kris Bixby, Katy, TX and Brian Bixby Lee’s Summit, MO; her two great grandchildren, Eleanor and Luke Burch-Hill plus numerous nieces and nephews.
