Betty JoAnn Toyne, 90, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She passed peacefully from North Kansas City Hospice surrounded by her loving daughter while in the prayerful thoughts of numerous other family members and friends.
All services will be Monday, December 12th, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. Visitation will be from 9:00 am – 10:30 am. Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 and Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am. Lunch will be served after services. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery immediately following lunch.
Betty was born on July 15, 1932, in Hays, Kansas, to Roscoe Montgomery and Elizabeth Pfeifer Montgomery. She moved to Kansas City as a young girl and graduated from Redemptorist Catholic High School in Kansas City, Missouri in 1950.
On August 28, 1954, she married the love of her life, Ralph Merle Toyne and they created a loving and lasting legacy to pass on to their children, Carolyn, Pamela, and Richard. They were married for 63 years until Ralph’s passing in December 2017. She retired from Farmland Industries and was a long standing member of St. Charles Catholic Church and Holy Family Catholic Church.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Mary Lee Murray, and brother in law and sister in law, Gene and Lelia Toyne.
She is survived by daughters Carolyn Novak (Albert) and Pamela Heil (John), son Richard Toyne (Julie), grandchildren Christina Hadley (Christopher), Thomas Novak, Elizabeth Edison, Matthew Novak (Sherry), Andrea Sprenger (James), Christopher Novak (Dimitra), Nicholas Toyne, Benjamin Toyne, Skyler Toyne, Ian Toyne, adoring great-grandchildren Tyler Barnard, Micah Edison, Marlowe Sprenger, Piper Sprenger, and Miles Novak and so many “adopted children” who lovingly brought her immense joy in her final years..
In lieu of flowers, Betty requested that memorial contributions be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
