Betty Maloney Walstrom

Betty was born in Kansas City, MO. Her parents were Ray and Faye Garris of Fairway, KS. She attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN. Betty graduated from Shawnee Mission Rural High School, then attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta and was a Golden Circle member. She was a life member of the Kansas City Young Matrons. Betty was Executive Secretary of the Mission Chamber of Commerce for over 4 years and also owned a business in Mission for 10 years.

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard C. Maloney in 1974 and by her second husband Virgil Walstrom in 1996. She is survived by her son Michael L. (Danna) Maloney; daughter LuAnne (Richard) Montgomery; Grandson Robert (Kirby) Montgomery; Great Granddaughters Kinsley, Kollins and Karrington; Grandsons Rusty (Brother Angelus CFR) and Scott (Father Innocent CFR) Montgomery; Granddaughter Katie (Brian) Havlat and Great Grandsons George, Charlie, Sam and Jack, and Great Granddaughter Annie Jane; Step Grandson Cody (Amanda) Walstrom; Step Daughter Katherine (Scott) Baker; Step Granddaughter Katie (Tyler) Thurman and their son Harvey; and Step Granddaughter Hanna (Brian) Dollard.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 9:30AM followed by a Catholic Mass celebrating her life at 10AM at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS 66213.
