Betty M. Woody (nee’ Parker) born December 3, 1934, passed to her heavenly home on June 27, 2026, at the age of 91. Betty was born in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Central High School in KC. Upon graduation she obtained a job with Southwestern Bell/AT&T where she worked for 32 years before her retirement. She also wed Wayne Woody who preceded her in death in 2010.
In 1968 Betty moved with her family to Independence, MO which she considered her home even as she moved to other cities. She also resided in Pembroke Pines, FL, Eagan, MN and died while residing in Galveston, TX. Everywhere Betty lived she was surrounded by friends. She set an example to her friends and family of how to serve others. This included scorekeeping for baseball games, assisting the Booster Club at Truman High School, reading to children in Independence Elementary Schools or serving as a greeter/teacher and many other roles when needed as a member of Maywood Baptist Church.
Betty with her husband were original Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holders and attended the very first Super Bowl in Los Angeles in 1967. Betty was a rabid Kansas City Sports fan and was always asking about Salvy, Bobby, Patrick, Travis, Andy, etc. Her favorites were Lenny and George.
An example of her friendship and loyalty is her group of high school friends that were known as “The Ducks”. The Coopers, Jones’, Wesleys and Woodys were friends for over seven decades. They shared numerous adventures, dinners, laughs and trips over those years. Camping and ski trips to Lake Pom de Terre, car trips to attend Six Flags over Texas or attending their children’s weddings were some of the great times experienced.
Betty is the daughter of Arthur and Ila Parker and was reared in a loving home with her siblings. Love was always bountiful even though material items were not. Betty is preceded in death by her brothers Jim, Jack and Frank and her sisters Loveline, Fern and Mary. She is survived by her sister Roseanne Jones of Chaffee, MO. Family Reunions with over 100 aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters and cousins were an extension of the love that Arthur and Ila extended to others and established Betty’s pattern of love and service.
Betty is survived by the focus of her life and love her sons Ron and Roger (Corinne), her grandchildren Ron, Jr, Zachary, Mitchell, Jenna and Monroe and her great-grandchildren Elenna, Patrick, Miguelito and Leah.
