Bettye Catherine Spencer Hall

Bettye Catherine Spencer Hall, 98, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength. She was the kind of person whose presence made you feel at home, whether you were family, friend, or stranger. Her warmth, wit, and unwavering love for the people and things she cared about left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathleen Spencer; her husband and true partner in life, Donald Hall; and her beloved son, Don Hall.

Bettye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her grandson, Brian Hall, and his wife Jessica of Shreveport, Louisiana, along with their children, Hunter and Hannah Beth. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Linda Hall of Branson, Missouri, and Linda’s sons: Travis Massman of Jefferson City, Missouri, and his wife Casey, with their children Jacob and Avery; and Tyler Long of Branson, Missouri, and his wife Kas, with their children Maverick and Saylor Jo. Her family meant the world to her, and she was so proud of the lives they are building.

She lived life with joy and intention. Bettye loved the game of golf and continued to play well into her 90s. She wasn’t one to sit still—unless, of course, she was watching the Kansas City Chiefs or her beloved Wichita State Shockers. Her love for those teams ran deep, and her enthusiasm during games was contagious.

Bettye didn’t want a service; she preferred the idea of people remembering her in their own way, with a smile or a shared story. She will be laid to rest in Kansas City, Missouri, next to her cherished husband, Donald. In her honor, the family invites you to make a donation to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)—a cause close to her heart—or to a charity that’s meaningful to you.

Her legacy lives on in the strength of her love and the quiet generosity she shared with everyone around her.
