Beverly Jean Klinkenborg

Bev was born in Rock Rapids, IA on March 31, 1937. She lived there until graduation from high school. She attended Westmar College in Lemars, IA, and Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, majoring in elementary education.

She married Delmer J. Klinkenborg (Joe) of George, IA in 1957 and they had four children. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her the greatest pleasure. Joe spent 23 years in the US military and they spent half of that time living in England, Japan and the Philippines.

In 1973 they transferred to Richards-Gebaur AFB outside of Belton, MO, where Bev worked as an Education Director with military personnel for Park College. After Joe's retirement from the AF they lived in Belton, MO. Bev worked as an Administrative Assistant to the CEO and CFO at Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, MO. She retired from there in 1998 after 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Joe, of 64 years; daughter Karla (Steve) Craigmile; son Derek (Jeannette) Klinkenborg; son Joel Klinkenborg; daughter Lisa (Chris) Corral; twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and brother, Duane Pettengill.

Bev is preceded in death by her parents, Marian and Leslie Pettengill; sister, Barbara Raddle; and brother, Dennis Pettengill.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or KC Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145 (specified toward KC Hospice House).

A celebration of life will be held at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133 on August 28, 2021at 1pm.
