

Beverly Ann Powell, 82, of Peculiar, MO passed away on January 29, 2018. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2 – 4 pm at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer and Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri. Beverly was born on April 9, 1935 in Great Falls, Montana. She was the daughter of Thomas E. and Margaret Ann (Scotson) Wilson and was proceeded in death by her brothers Robert Lee (wife Aunie) and Thomas Earl Jr.
She leaves her loving memories with: husband, Walter W. Powell; son, Shawn; daughters, Peggy (and Scott) Ciafullo, Kerry Meireis, Erin Mills; grandchildren Dylan, Colin, Megan, Joshua, Jaina, Maggie, Thomas; nieces and nephews, Karen Bond, Lynn Nelson, Russell Wilson, Kelly Wilson; great nieces and nephews.
On February 11, 1961, Beverly married Walter W. Powell in Great Falls, Montana. While raising four children, they moved to Trenton, New Jersey in 1964; Raytown, Missouri in 1966; Peculiar, Missouri in 1980. Bev was first and foremost a wonderful wife and mother. She later worked at JC Penney, Brookside Dental Practice and Patio Realtors. But her passion in life was her interest in alternative medicine. She earned several certificates in Naturopathy, healing herself and others with her knowledge and homemade products.
Like her mother, Beverly was a hostess and loved to cook, bake and entertain friends and family. She enjoyed hosting bridge club, square dancing and bowling, playing the piano, girl scouts and doing things for others. Beverly’s artistic talents included knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, paper quilling, scherenschnitte and many others. Bev and Walt created and painted wood crafts, and spent a lot of time with their beloved grandchildren.
