Bill graduated from high school at Shawnee Mission East. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Latin from the University of Kansas and studied for a year in Bordeaux, France. He later earned an MBA from Rockhurst University and went on to lead a 28 year career at Burns & McDonnell.
Bill spent his life following his passions, rooting for his beloved Kansas Jayhawks, and traveling the world. In his retirement, he became an avid cyclist, completing a grueling century bike ride, and he spent many hours performing community service through CASA of Johnson & Wyandotte Counties. At home, Bill was a loving and devoted father, and all who knew him would agree that he was extraordinarily thoughtful, and a real gentleman.
He leaves behind former wife Rose Marie Dammann and their son Andrew Dammann, daughter-in-law Rachael Schlosberg, sisters Martha Bye and Kathryn Hoffman, significant other Vicki Lattimer, and numerous other family members and friends.
