She was born April 4, 1935 in Aullville, Missouri to William F. and Eva Blanche (Sanders) Bollmeyer. She grew up in Aullville and spent much time at her grandmother’s farm west of Concordia. After graduating from Higginsville High School in 1952 she attended business college in Kansas City. On August 11, 1956 she married Herbert S. Hestand and they settled in Hickman Mills.
When her children were young she was a fulltime homemaker. In 1971 she went to work for J.E. Dunn Construction company and was an executive secretary there until she retired. She and Herb enjoyed traveling, spending time at the lake house and spoiling their grandchildren. Billie attended Belton Assembly of God Church for over 64 years and consistently lived out her faith throughout her life. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Heart N Hand and Walk for a Cure. She liked to read, work jigsaw puzzles and root for the Chiefs.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sisters Eva Vassar, Jean Manning and Irene Pennington, and her brother William who died in infancy.
She is survived by her children James (Melinda) Hestand of Harrisonville, Thomas (Marlene) Hestand of Olathe and Linda (Clay) Heishman of Warrensburg. Grandchildren Amy Cadwell, Mt. Vernon, Washington, Nicholas (Amanda) Hestand, Nixa, Missouri, Elizabeth (Tony) DiLillo, Harrisonville, Sarah Lienemann, Raymore, Stacey Heishman, Valley Village, California and Jennie (Alan Castillo) Heishman, Sedalia. Great-grandchildren Cadeyn Hestand, Grayson Lienemann, Asher, Ellie and Levi DiLillo.
Services for Billie will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. A visitation will start at 1:00 PM with a funeral service following at 2:00 PM. A committal service in Mount Moriah Cemetery will conclude services.
