Bobby Lee Smith

Bobby Lee Smith, 84, Independence, Missouri, passed away July 28, 2011 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 2, at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th Street South, Independence, Missouri 64055. Bob was born June 4, 1927 in Smithton, Missouri, son of Joseph T. and Ida J. (Rodenbach) Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He met his wife Japheen at Middlewest Motor Freight Bureau where he retired after 46 years. He was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Independence Masonic Lodge. Bob was a Scout Leader for his sons in Troop 228. He loved traveling, fishing, gardening and woodworking which he passed down to his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Japheen and son Patrick. Bob is survived by son Michael and wife Maureen; daughter Terenta “Terri” Jeffries and husband Randy; six grandchildren Courtney Smith-Allen (Jason Allen), Zachary Smith, Brystal Smith, Jennifer Rhoades (Brian), Justin Jeffries (Amber), Breezy Jeffries; and four great-grandchildren Michael and Marian Allen, Kaleigh and Zooey Rhoades.
