Bonnie Jean Arthurs

December 7, 1926March 23, 2020

Bonnie J Arthurs, passed away Monday, 23 March, at the age of 93.

God finally granted Bonnie's wish to join the love of her life, John K Arthurs, who passed away 28 March 1985. She is survived by 4 daughters Sheila Griffin (Bruce), Linda Pendleton (Gary), Oleta Brown (Frank) and Jeanne King (Pat); 2 sons Timothy Arthurs and John Arthurs (Cathy); 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. She had great pride in her family and would talk about them to whomever would listen.

Bonnie Jean Garl Arthurs was born on 7 Dec 1926 in Agate, Co. to Clarence Grover Garl and Maeno Ileen Rockwell Garl Shoop. Clarence was killed when a tractor turned over on him on 12 June 1928. Bonnie’s grandfather, Daniel Handy Rockwell, died on 24 August 1928 of appendicitis. Leaving both Maeno and her mother, Ella Covell Rockwell, widows.

Bonnie moved to Simla, CO to finish high school. She was a cheer leader and a friend of hers told John Arthurs he needed to meet Bonnie. They were married on 17 March 1944 in Raton, New Mexico. They lived on a farm in Ramah, CO then moved to town in Ramah where they bought their first home. By this time they had Sheila, Linda and Tim.

After Tim was born in 1949 they picked up and moved to Kansas City so John could go to mechanics school. They ended up staying in Kansas City where Oleta, Jeanne`, and John were born.

Bonnie was a great cook and would feed anyone that showed up hungry. She loved staying at home with her kids and babysat many kids over the years. She loved to bowl with family and friends whenever she had the chance.

Bonnie and John loved to travel or spend time at the lake. Short trips with children and grandchildren were always on the calendar. They became Great-Grandparents in 1983. When John passed away in 1985 Bonnie moved to Grain Valley, MO to be close to family. She spent time with the "second wave" of grandchildren and once again babysat while their parents were working.

In 2003 she moved to Cardinal Ridge Apartments in KC, MO. She met new friends & enjoyed an occasional coffee get-together. In 2010 Bonnie became a Great Great Grandmother three times, all within four weeks! She was very proud of that title and the love that came with it. It was during this time that many holiday gatherings moved to the grandchildren's homes and she attended as many as possible. She enjoyed her visits with the families as their numbers grew.
