Brian Schissel was born to Larry and Kathleen Schissel in Decorah, Iowa, on September 30th, 1964. He excelled in athletics and later attended the University of Northern Iowa where he played football. He majored in Business and Management.
Brian had a long, successful career in insurance, serving in multiple levels of management. He proudly served AIG for 26 years and most recently was the Midwest Zonal Claims Executive, where his leadership and steady judgment earned the respect of colleagues and clients.
Brian married the love of his life, Jane, on October 7th, 1989, and together they raised two sons, Tyler and Lucas Schissel. He lived in Olathe for 28 years, where he coached youth sports and spent countless hours running and biking with his family.
Brian loved sports, whether playing football, coaching, or cheering on his favorite teams. Every summer he would drive to Colorado with his family and spend time in his home away from home in the mountains, biking, hiking, and rafting with his wife and boys. A devout and faithful man, Brian loved God and his family with a quiet strength and was always generous with his time and service. He valued his faith, his family, and his friends, and held each of them close in his final days.
