Brian Christopher Williams, 64, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on June 11th, 2026. He suffered a heart attack while at home. Brian left this world the same way he lived in it, with no warning and on his own terms, and he wouldn’t want it any other way. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to the people who mattered most to him.
Brian was born on July 27th, 1961, in Des Moines, Iowa, where he was raised. While in Des Moines, he attended Valley High School where he was Captain of the Men’s Swim Team. He earned a scholarship to the University of Miami for swimming, where he traded the Iowa winters for the Florida sunshine. It was in Miami that he built an impressive career in law enforcement, serving for 10 years and earning the distinction of becoming the city’s youngest detective, where Brian and his partners were deemed “The Untouchables.” His courage and dedication on the force were matched only by the love he carried for his family, which he always called the proudest achievement of his life. Just this past Saturday, Brian and his beloved wife, Diana, would have celebrated 40 years of a beautiful marriage.
Anyone who knew Brian knew his humor came quick and his sarcasm came quicker. He was funny, straightforward, generous, and deeply loving. If you knew Brian, you knew exactly where you stood with him, and that was one of the best things about him. He never missed a chance to watch a football game, enjoy a cold drink, or simply spend time with the people he loved. He was also a faithful and generous supporter of the Catholic Church and the Kansas City Homeless Shelter.
Brian is survived by his wife, Diana Julia Williams; his daughters, Brittany Elizabeth Park (Andrew) and Brooke Alexis Nachbar (Richard); his son, Brandon Christopher Williams; his grandchildren, Maverick Christopher Park, Richard Joseph Nachbar III, and William Prentice Nachbar; and his sister, Ann Flood.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Cure of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas. The family will pray the Rosary at 10:30 AM, prior to the funeral service.
Though you are gone, Dadda, your light still shines. May you rest in peace.
