Bruce J. Caldwell, age 82 of Kansas City, MO passed away February 18th, 2019. He was born in Rome, GA to Alfred and Annie Mae Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and wife of 51 years, Wilma. He is survived by two children, Debbie Wilson and Barbara Haddock (Ken); five grandchildren, Laura Mann (Tim), Shawn Haddock (Darla), Bruce Wilson (Michelle), Philip Haddock and Michael Haddock (April), nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bruce grew up on Rome, Georgia and enlisted in the Navy. He was a member of Navy unit 377 and served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. After serving with the Navy, Bruce had the opportunity to move to Kansas City for a job. While in Kansas City, he met his wife, Wilma, at work and they were married in 1963.
In 1966, he began his career at Bayer. He took great pride in his work but also making life-long friends. He not only took pride in his work, but truly relished the friends he made during his time at Bayer. In addition to his work, Bruce had a passion for fishing, story-telling, and spending time with family.
Visitation services will be held on Thursday February 21st from 6 - 8 PM at Winnwood Baptist Church in Kansas City. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 22nd, from 12 – 1 PM at Winnwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. The family suggest memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
