I never knew Bruce personally, but I am involved in Scouting, and he has left a great legacy. I want to thank him for all he did for Scouting.

We met Bruce and his first wife Shirval while on a cruise.  Shirval preceded Bruce in death. Both were wonderful and fun loving people. The world was a better place because of them.  Bruce faithfully sent us a Christmas card every year since that cruise but when we heard his cancer was back and we did not get a card for the last 2 years, we feared the worst. Only today did I find out of his passing. RIP dear friend.

To the Davis family,

I knew Bruce from his days as a great basket ball player at Southwest High... a rival of my school, Southeast High.  Later while a loan officer at First National Bank of Kansas City we recruited Bruce to play with us in the Kansas City Parks and Rec leagues and season end elimination tournaments. Back in 1974 or so, Bruce led us to two final championship games--one we barely lost in overtime, and the other when a huge snow storm hit the day of the game scheduled at Pinkerton Elementary and our opponent  had 4-5 college players including one from Duke University [Doug Jackson from SM West] all over 6'6".  Our team were all 6" or less except for Bruce who was trying to get to the game from Parkville, but the snow made such impossible. Since Bruce could not make it, we had our 5'6" guard jump center against a 6'8" opponent.  We tried stalling hoping Bruce would show, but alas he could not make it.  Finally as FNBKC's team was getting hammered, Jackson looked at me and politely asked how our team made the finals out of 36 teams in the tournament.  I replied we were missing Bruce Davis, and then Jackson nodded his head as he then understood we were without a great center/shooter/rebounder/ ball handler/and passer.  The next day Bruce apologized for not making it to the game...heck,  a sleigh with reindeers would not have gotten through that snow across town.  Bruce and I used to laugh about that game years later before I joined another bank.

Bruce was unselfish and modest, a real team player a well as a good banker.  He and his father, Hunter, were well liked by the officers of First National, especially the correspondent banking staff.

Please accept my prayers and sympathy over the loss of such a great individual. May God wrap His loving arms about you as you remember the bigger than life Bruce.

WHAT A GREAT TRIBUTE TO THE "MAN BIGGER THAN LIFE".  SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO BE THERE AND SEE YOU AGAIN.
I HAVE A REQUEST-  ON THE TABLE WAS A PICTURE OF BRUCE ON THE BASS TRACKER HOLDING A BIG BASS FROM LAKE FORK.  IN MY MAN'S CAVE I HAVE SEVERAL PICTURES OF BASS FROM FORK.  I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY OF THAT PICTURE TO ADD TO MY WALL.  THAT WAY EVERYDAY I CAN REMEMBER THE GREAT TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER. THANKS

Brett, Traci, Neil and Terri, I'm sorry I couldn't be there today to give my condolences and honor Bruce but I want you to know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. Please take comfort in the thought that he's in a place filled with all the trees, lakes, rivers and fast cars he could ever want.  Bruce taught me a lot when I was a kid.  In fact he had such an impact on me during my brief period of scouting that he's the reason I became a scout leader to my kids and others.  Now I know he'll always be with me and watching out for me each and every time I put on my scout uniform.  I only hope I can be a fraction of the leader that he was.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of Bruce.  He will be missed by many.

Thinking of you all & sending our love. We had wonderful times at the Davis home & will cherish those times. Now who is going to do the grilling?

I am one of the many people that this very good man helped.  He gave me a job, when it was not necessary for him to do so.  He was one of the people in my life that helped make me into the person that I am.  He and his family, and their giving ways, have had a great impact on my family.  I'll always be grateful.

Brett, Traci and Neil, Cindi and I are thinking about you today.  You had a wonderful father and we will miss him greatly.  Cindi and I are out of the country this week and cannot attend your dad's services but please know you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

After being with him for 45 years he was like my little brother that I always looked out for and protected in every way I could. He was always there for me,always. Bruce was the most giving and caring person I have ever known. No one will ever know how many people he helped. And most of it in silence. I will love and miss him always.
