Virgil and Madge Weeks welcomed Bruce and his dear twin sister Carol into this world on September 10, 1943. Bruce was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area and attended Center Elementary and Center High School. Awarded an academic scholarship to Northwestern University, he studied Engineering and then went on to San Jose University for his Masters in Physics and worked on rockets at Lockheed. Returning home to Kansas City, he raised his family and worked as an R&D Engineer on cooling towers at Marley (SPX) for 48 years, retiring on his 75th birthday in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and half-brother Mel Weeks and half-sisters Phyllis Holmes, Doris Connors, and Maxine Belew. He is survived by his sister Carol (Prairie Village, KS), his two daughters, Ashley Coleen Gundacker and Harald of Steyr, Austria, and Emily Michelle Fitzgibbons and Ryan of Ellicott City, MD, and his beloved grandchildren, Maria, Emilia, Charles, Lillian, and Jane.
Bruce had so many interests and talents: a scientist and patent holder, artist and sign painter, a published poet, carpenter, an English, Math and Physics tutor, and lover of books and words. Most of all, he was a Christian and his entire life was devoted to loving his family. His advice for life was simple, “have more hope for people than they have for themselves, especially when they don’t know such hope should intimately belong to them; and see more that’s beautiful in them than they see or sometimes even need to see in themselves.” His memory and gratitude for life and all its miracles will be treasured as will be his words: “The universe was designed for miracles. You don't need faith to apprehend this, but faith will do. God is the God of miracles at every moment.”
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Private family services were held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri.
