
Bryce Leon Ferdig passed into the arms of the Lord on Nov. 27, 2010, at Lee Summit Medical Center. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 9020 E. 51st Terr. KCMO 64133, with rosary at 7 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Bryce was born May 14, 1929, in Omaha, NE, to Winfield Hubert and Nettie May (Scofield) Ferdig. In 1936 the family moved to Noel, MO, and he graduated from Noel High School in 1947. Bryce was inducted into the Army in Nov. of 1950 and served for 2 years at Fort Leonard Wood. After moving to Kansas City, he worked for Benson Industries until joining the KCMO Fire Dept. in Aug. of 1957. After 30 years of service, he retired as an F.A.O. from station # 23 "C" Shift in Dec. of 1987. Bryce was a 30 yr. member of the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 42 and the Retired Fire Fighters Association. He was a 36 yr. member of the St. Bernadette's Parish where he served on the parish council and an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. Bryce was a 33 yr. member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4962 and a 32 yr. member of the Father Bernard Donnelly 4th Degree Assembly. He served the Knights of Columbus MO State Council as D.D. #6 and State Ladies Auxiliary Chairman. Bryce was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop #421 and a member of the Tribe of Mic- O-Say. He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Aquino) Ferdig; three sons, David of Lee Summit, Brian (Kathy) of Billings, MT and Mark of Raytown; four grandchildren, Riley, Olivia, Kennedi and Dawson; two sisters, Jean Lawson of Miller, MO and Carla Hight of Noel, MO.
