

Carl H. Bargfrede, 95, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 19th, 11:00 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 4205 Tracy Avenue, Kansas City, MO, with the burial following in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18th at McGilley State Line Chapel, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
Carl was born on June 25, 1915, in Alma, Missouri. He was a B-25 aircraft mechanic during WW II, and for 30 years worked for the Postal Service, and was also a master craftsman in woodworking. Carl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 60 years. He enjoyed playing golf well into his eighties accomplishing 2 holes in one. He was a gentle man with an unwavering faith, and he saw goodness in everyone.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Virginia May Bargfrede, who died April 7,1995 ; and their daughter, Mary Ann Bargfrede, age two, who died in 1945. He is survived by his children; Carol Bargfrede of Leawood, KS; Ruth Howard and husband Don of Blue Springs, MO; and Ginnie Hall and husband Cliff of Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Christy Howard Baum and husband Tim of Prairie Village, KS; and Matthew Howard of Wichita, KS, and fiancé Haley Theel of Manhattan, KS. Carl also leaves his brother, Walter Bargfrede and wife Elaine of Alma, MO; sister, Levona Appel of Thorndale, TX; and sister, Rutheleen Wyssmann and husband Reverend Robert Wyssmann of Springfield, MO, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
