Carl was born on July 15, 1958, eldest son to Natalia and George Murphy in Iola Kansas. Carl grew up in Belton Missouri & graduated from Belton High School in 1976. He lettered in track and several other sports. Carl went on to study Engineering at Longview Community College & Rolla University which gave him his start as a tool designer in manufacturing engineering. Throughout his career, Carl worked for various companies and then started C&K Design; a family run machine shop where he created many things, including the NFL Dial-A-Down marker prototype.
In 1981, Carl met the love of his life Karen and in 1982 they married. This would be the greatest adventure for Carl & Karen that would last over 40 years. They had 2 children, Dennis and Amanda. Carl was a great husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed coaching his kids sports, actively participating in father daughter dancing, and fishing in his spare time.
Later in life he enjoyed camping with his family, friends and Daisy, the family dog. They belonged to a camping group and traveled to various places. Carl took great pride in passing the art of trout fishing to his children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Carl was predeceased in death by his mother, Natalia Murphy, his sister, Evelyn Smith.
He is survived by his father, George Murphy, his wife, Karen Murphy, his younger sister, Jeannette England (Robert), his son Dennis Murphy (Jaime), his daughter, Amanda Hull (Brian). Carl, known as "Poppy" to his grandchildren, was loved very much by his 6 grandchildren: Addison, Ashlyn, Annaleigh, Brock, Jack, and Jordan. Also many nieces & nephews.
Services will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri on Friday, May 12th. Visitation will be from 3pm to 5pm with a short service to follow.
